LOST BUT NOT FORGOTTEN RIDES
Updated 22.09.99
Many legendary rides have been removed from the Linnanmaki amusement park. Where are they today? Hopefully the following gives you a clue. The year after the name of the ride indicates the operating years in Linnanmaki.
Hurricane, 1955 - 1978
Hurricane used to be in the site where Polyp stands today.

Round Up, 1960 - 1975
Round Up was located in Panorama's site. It operated
in Sarkanniemi in 1976. It was moved to Tykkimaki in 1986.

Airborn, 1962 - ?
Airborn was replaced by the Rainbow. It was moved to
Tykkimaki in 1988. The ride was probably in store for couple of years.
Calypso, 1967 - 1974
Between 1975 and 1984 Calypso was operating in
Sarkanniemi. It arrived Tykkimaki in 1986. Calypso was replaced by the Enterprise.
Car Track, 1967 - 1995
The Car Track was dismantled, because they built a toy museum
in the site. The track operates now in Tallinn, Estonia.
Dodgem Track, 1968 - 1981
Between 1982 and 1984 the bumper cars operated in Kalajoki.
They arrived Tykkimaki in 1986.
Cortina-Jet, 1970 - 1987
Cortina-Jet used to be in the same site where Top Spin
stands today. It was moved to Tykkimaki in 1988. Calypso was replaced
by the Breakdance.
Captain Kid's Pirate Ship, 1970 - 1973
The Pirate Ship was not a ride, but a play area for the kids. It located in the Fairytale Valley. It was my favourite attraction when I visited Linnanmaki for the first time in 1972. I was 7 years old at the time (yes, I'm very old now).

Kiddie Ferris Wheel, 1979 - 1996
Kiddie Ferris Wheel was replaced by the bigger
wheel (High Chaparral) in 1997. The old one operates in Tallinn, Estonia today.
Hully Gully, 1984 - 1985
Hully Gully was moved to Tykkimaki in 1986.
Apollo 1986 - 1997
Apollo replaced Hully Gully, but it was replaced by the
Samba Balloon in turn. Apollo must be in Tykkimaki today.
Katapult, 1992 - 1993
Katapult operated in Linnanmaki just for two seasons. It was a good ride, but technically very unreliable. It was replaced by the Top Spin in 1994.

Kiddie Octopus, 1990 - 1996
Octopus used to be in the Fairytale Valley next to
the Meteorite. It was moved to Tykkimaki in 1997.
Enterprise, 1975 - 1998
Enterprise is manufactured by
Anton Schwarzkopf, Germany. Millions of customers rode it during the 24 year
period, but I was the very last person ever to ride it in Linnanmaki.
If I only had known it when I rode it first time in 1975. Enterprise is in
Tykkimaki today.
